Account and security in the Word add-in

6 sections · Updated 2026-09-19 · Also available as Markdown

How to open the account view

Click the account icon in the top bar of the Cx Assistant pane. The account view opens over the chat (your conversation stays open behind it and is right where you left it when you close the view).

The account view has five tabs: Profile, Security, Sessions, Activity, and Legal.

Profile — your name and avatar

The Profile tab is where you manage your personal details, such as your name and avatar. Changes here apply to your account everywhere — the same profile is used on the web, mobile, and in the Office add-ins.

Security — two-factor authentication, backup codes, and password

The Security tab protects your account:

  • Two-factor authentication (2FA): enable a second sign-in step using an authenticator app or email codes.
  • Backup codes: one-time codes to get in if you lose access to your 2FA method — store them somewhere safe.
  • Change password: update your account password.

Once 2FA is on, signing in to the add-in will show a 2FA challenge after your password.

Sessions — see and revoke signed-in devices

The Sessions tab lists the devices and apps currently signed in to your account. If you see a session you don't recognise, or you left yourself signed in somewhere, revoke it — that device is signed out immediately.

Colour mode and logging out

The colour-mode toggle and sign out are not in the account view — they live in the history panel footer:

  1. Click the history toggle (≡) in the top bar of the pane.
  2. In the footer at the bottom of the panel, next to your name, use the colour-mode toggle to switch between light and dark mode.
  3. To sign out, click the ⋮ button in the same footer and choose "Sign out". The same menu has "Help & support".
