## What is the Home dashboard

Home is the landing page of your project. It gives you a read-only overview of how the project is doing: key numbers at the top, charts about assets and issues below, and a setup checklist to help you get the project ready.

You reach it by clicking Home in the sidebar, or it opens automatically when you sign in with an active project. Viewing Home requires the home.view permission, which all built-in roles have by default.

## KPI stats at the top of Home

The top of Home shows four cards with the project's key numbers (KPIs) at a glance:

- Total Assets — all tracked assets in the project.
- Total Issues — every issue created in the project.
- Open issues — issues still awaiting resolution.
- Completion Rate — the average progress of your assets through their status flow, as a percentage.

Everyone who can open Home sees these four cards. While a number is loading the card shows a dash. If a card could not load, it offers a retry.

## Charts on the Home dashboard

Home shows several read-only charts about your project, in this order:
- Issue Velocity — issues created and closed, accumulated over time
- Issue Priority Breakdown
- Plan vs Actual
- Asset Status by Type
- Asset Status Distribution
- Asset Completion

The statuses, types, and priorities shown are the ones defined by your project. Charts reflect live project data. To reload them, click the small refresh icon next to the greeting at the top of Home.

## Open an asset directly from a chart

Two charts let you drill down to the assets behind them: Asset Status by Type and Plan vs Actual.

1. Click a bar in Asset Status by Type, or a point in time on the Plan vs Actual chart.
2. A panel opens beside the chart with the list of matching assets. You can copy the list from there.
3. Click an asset in the list. Its asset dialog opens right on top of the dashboard, so you can inspect or update it without leaving Home.

What you can change inside the dialog still depends on your normal asset permissions. The issue charts on Home are for reading only — to work on an issue, open the Issues page.

## Project setup checklist

New or partly configured projects show a setup checklist card on Home. Each task deep-links to the right place to complete it — for example, "Add your first asset" opens the Assets page with the create dialog already open.

The checklist is permission-filtered: you only see tasks you are actually allowed to complete. For example, the create-issue task only appears if you can create issues.

## How to refresh the dashboard

1. Open Home.
2. Find the small refresh icon right next to the greeting at the top of the page. Hovering it shows "Refresh dashboard".
3. Click it. The icon spins while the numbers and charts reload.

Use it after you or a teammate made changes elsewhere and you want the numbers to catch up immediately. The icon is hidden while the assistant panel is open — close the panel to see it again.

## Who can see Home and its data

- Viewing Home needs the home.view permission (all built-in roles: Project Admin, Project Member, Technician).
- The four KPI cards and the charts need nothing extra — everyone who can open Home sees them.
- The Progress shortcut button on the Plan vs Actual chart opens the planner's Progress view and only shows if you can read the planner (planner.read).
- The setup checklist hides tasks you cannot perform, and the "create issue" call to action needs issues.create.

The project owner always sees everything in their project. If something is hidden for you, ask a project admin to adjust your role.

## Home dashboard looks empty or wrong — troubleshooting

- A card at the top shows a dash or an error: the number could not load — use the retry on the card, or the refresh icon next to the greeting.
- Charts are empty: the project may not have assets or issues yet, or your filters elsewhere don't affect Home — add data first via Assets or Issues.
- Numbers look outdated: click the refresh icon next to the greeting at the top of Home to reload the numbers and charts.
- You land on a welcome page instead of the dashboard: you have no active project or you are in My Workspace — pick a project in the project picker at the top of the sidebar.
- Home is missing from the sidebar: your role does not include home.view — ask a project admin.
