Where to find your notifications — the bell icon
Your notifications live behind the bell icon in the header, visible on every page.
- Click the bell in the top-right area of the header.
- A menu opens listing your notifications, newest first, grouped by project.
- Click any notification to jump straight to the item it is about.
The bell shows a badge with the number of notifications you have not seen yet. Notifications arrive live — you do not need to refresh the page. They work across all your projects and need no special permission.
What the badge number means — seen vs read
The number on the bell counts UNSEEN notifications — ones that arrived since you last opened the menu.
- Opening the bell menu marks everything as seen, so the badge clears.
- Seen is not the same as read: notifications you have not opened yet stay in BOLD text in the list.
- Clicking a notification marks it as read (bold turns to normal) and takes you to the related item.
So the badge tells you "something new arrived", while bold rows tell you "you have not looked at this one yet".
All and Unread tabs, and marking everything read
Inside the bell menu:
- The All tab shows every notification.
- The Unread tab shows only notifications you have not clicked yet.
- The mark-all-read button marks every notification as read in one click.
- The settings shortcut opens Settings with the Notifications tab active, where you control which notifications you receive and on which channel.
Clicking an individual notification also marks it as read and navigates to the item it refers to.
Notifications are grouped per project — clicking switches project
Notifications in the bell menu are grouped by the project they belong to. A "General" group for system-wide notifications (such as announcements) is pinned at the top.
If you click a notification that belongs to a different project than the one you are currently working in, the app automatically switches your active project first, then navigates you to the related item — for example the issue, review, or planner activity the notification is about. You do not need to switch projects manually.
Announcements — what they are and how to read them
Announcements are messages from the product team, shown in the "General" group of the bell menu.
Clicking an announcement opens a drawer with the full message. Announcements can include formatted text, an image, and sometimes a button linking to more information. Close the drawer to return to what you were doing.
What kinds of notifications can I receive
You may receive notifications about:
- Reviews: a review step is awaiting your decision, a decision was made on a review you are involved in, or a review was closed.
- Trackers: a document in a tracker you watch was rejected, or a tracker row you watch turned fully complete (green). Tracker notifications only arrive for trackers where you turned on the watch bell.
- Planner: an activity was assigned to you or to one of your groups, a reminder set on an activity or milestone came due, or an activity assigned to you went overdue — it passed its planned end date.
- Issues: an issue was assigned to you or to one of your groups, someone commented on an issue you created or are assigned to, or an issue went overdue — it passed its due date without being closed. The overdue notice goes to the assignee, or to the person who raised the issue when nobody is assigned, and it is sent once each time the issue slips.
- Downloads: a ZIP archive you requested from Documentation is ready to download, or the download failed.
- Assistant — learned a memory: the assistant saved something it learned from one of your conversations, shown as "The assistant will remember: …" (or "The assistant updated a memory: …"). Click it to open Settings on the Memories tab, where you can edit or delete that memory. This one is in-app only.
- Assistant — answer ready and approval needed: the assistant finished answering in a chat you were not looking at — for example after you closed the tab, switched to another chat, or put your phone away. It never fires while you have that chat open, and the phone push is only sent when none of your devices is connected. The assistant also notifies you when it paused because an action needs your approval — sending an email, a calendar change, a deletion — in a chat you are not looking at; open the chat to approve or decline, and the notification clears once you decide.
- Announcements: messages from the product team.
Clicking a notification always takes you to the related item — for example an export notification opens Documentation with your download, and an assistant notification opens that chat.
How to choose which notifications you receive
You control notifications per type and per channel:
- Open Settings (click your avatar in the header, then Notifications — or use the settings shortcut inside the bell menu).
- On the Notifications tab you see a list of notification types.
- Each type has two switches: In-app (the bell) and Email.
- Toggle the switches to enable or disable each channel for that type.
Changes apply immediately. This is a personal setting — it only affects your own notifications, in every project.
Email notifications
Besides the in-app bell, most notification types can also be sent to your account email address. Turn the Email channel on or off per notification type in Settings, on the Notifications tab.
Emails link back into the app, landing you directly on the related item. If emails stop arriving, check your spam folder and confirm the Email switch is on for that notification type.
Not receiving notifications — troubleshooting
If you expected a notification and it did not arrive:
- Check Settings, Notifications tab: the In-app or Email switch for that notification type may be turned off.
- Tracker notifications only arrive for trackers where you enabled the watch bell — open the tracker and check the bell toggle.
- Planner reminders are only sent to the activity's assignee and to whoever added the reminder, and only for reminders set on that activity.
- The badge only counts notifications since you last opened the bell — open the menu and check the All tab; the notification may already be marked seen.
- For missing emails, check your spam folder.
Notifications arrive live while the app is open; if your connection dropped, they appear once you are back online or after a refresh.
