The notifications inbox — what it shows
The notifications inbox collects everything addressed to you: assignments, comments, planner reminders, review and tracker updates, export results, assistant answers that finished while you were away, assistant runs paused for your approval, and system announcements.
How to open it:
- Tap the bell in the header of any main screen. It carries a badge with your unseen count. There is no Notifications row in the drawer.
- A Notifications sheet slides up over the screen you are on. Tap a notification to go to it.
- Tap See all to open the full Notifications screen, with the All / Unread filter, Mark all as read, and the Notification settings button.
The inbox groups rows by project, with a "General" group for system messages and announcements pinned first. It updates live, loads more as you scroll, and supports pull-to-refresh.
Badge vs unread — what clears what
There are two separate states:
- Unseen (the badge) — the count on the bell in every main screen's header and on your app icon. Simply opening the notifications sheet or the full inbox clears it: everything is marked seen, the app-icon badge resets, and stacked notifications are dismissed from your phone's notification shade.
- Unread (bold rows) — a row stays bold until you actually read it. Opening the inbox does NOT mark rows read; tapping a row does.
So the badge disappearing doesn't mean you've read everything — bold rows are still waiting for you.
Filtering unread and marking all read
On the full Notifications screen (bell → See all), use the All / Unread segmented control at the top to show everything or only unread rows.
When unread rows exist, a "Mark all as read" action appears — tap it to mark every notification read at once. Individual rows are marked read the moment you tap them.
Tapping a notification — project switch and deep links
Tapping a row does three things in order:
- Marks the row read.
- If the notification belongs to a different project than your active one, the app switches to that project automatically.
- Navigates to the target: issue notifications open the issue sheet, planner notifications (assignment, reminder, activity due) open the activity in the planner calendar, assistant notifications ("answer ready", "needs your approval") open that chat — a waiting approval shows its card there, ready to approve or decline — and announcements open the announcement sheet.
You land directly on the thing the notification is about — no manual searching needed.
Announcements
System announcements appear in the pinned "General" group at the top of the inbox. Tap one to open it in a sheet with its full formatted message.
Announcements are shown in the language they were written in — the app does not translate authored content.
Notifications for web-only features — continue on web
Some notifications point at features that live only in the web app — for example review, tracker, and export notifications. These rows still appear in your mobile inbox so nothing gets lost. Tapping one marks it read and shows a "continue on web" hint chip instead of navigating: open the web app to act on it.
Notification settings — choosing what you receive and where
Open the full Notifications screen (bell → See all) and tap the tune button in its header to open Notification settings. You get a switch matrix: one row per notification type (grouped into categories such as reviews, issues, planner, trackers, exports, and system), with a toggle per channel:
- In-app — rows in the notifications inbox.
- Push — notifications on your phone (mobile only).
- Email.
Each toggle saves instantly — there is no Save button. Flip a switch and you're done.
How to enable push notifications
Push notifications are enabled from Notification settings (bell → See all → tune button). There is no prompt at first launch.
- Open Notification settings.
- In the "Turn on push notifications" card, tap Turn on; the system permission dialog appears.
- Allow notifications.
The app also offers once, in chat: the first time you walk away from a chat that is still working, or an answer finishes while you were away, it asks "Get notified when it's ready?". Tap Turn on and allow notifications, or tap Not now and use Notification settings later (needs an up-to-date version of the app).
If you previously denied permission, the screen offers a link that takes you straight to the app's page in your phone's system settings, where you can allow notifications manually. Note that push does not work in simulators — only on real devices.
How push notifications behave
Once push is enabled:
- Your app-icon badge mirrors your unseen notification count, and opening the inbox clears it.
- Tapping a push notification opens the app and routes you straight to the target (issue, planner activity, announcement) — this works even when the app was fully closed.
- Your device is re-registered for push each time the app cold-starts, so delivery keeps working after reinstalls and sign-ins.
Not receiving push notifications — troubleshooting
If pushes aren't arriving:
- Open Notification settings (bell → See all → tune button) and check that Push is toggled on for the notification types you expect.
- If the screen shows a "Turn on push notifications" card, notification permission hasn't been granted — tap Turn on and allow. If you denied it earlier, use the link to your phone's system settings and allow notifications there.
- Check your phone's focus/do-not-disturb modes.
- Fully close and reopen the app — this re-registers your device for push.
- Remember pushes never arrive in simulators, only on real devices.
In-app rows in the inbox arrive regardless of push, so check there to confirm the notifications themselves are being generated.
