Creating a project — web app required

Project creation is not available in the mobile app. You must create a project from the CX Assistant web application.

Once a project is created on the web, it appears immediately in your mobile app (in the project picker) and you can work with it normally from there.

On mobile, the two project actions available are joining a project with an invite code and switching between the projects you already belong to.

How to create a project from the web app

To create a new project, open the CX Assistant web app in a browser:

  1. Open the project picker and click "Create project" (also available from the Projects page).
  2. Everything happens on a single screen. Fill in the basics: project name, a short code (used as a prefix throughout the project), and the client company.
  3. Pick a starter template — it seeds the project's configuration (statuses, priorities, types, doc groups) with sensible defaults you can change later in Project Settings.
  4. Click Create.

Your progress is saved automatically as a draft, so you can leave and resume later. The project appears in your mobile app straight away.

Join a project with an invite code

If a project admin gave you an 8-character invite code, you can join their project directly from the app.

How to join:

  1. Open the invite-code screen. You reach it from the Join project row at the bottom of the project picker, from the Join project row in the drawer (shown while you have no projects), or from the "Join with invite code" button on a no-project empty state.
  2. Type the code into the 8 boxes — the cursor advances automatically as you type, and backspace walks back to the previous box.
  3. Or simply paste the full code — all 8 boxes fill automatically.
  4. Codes use uppercase letters A–Z and digits 0–9; lowercase input is converted for you.
  5. The Join button enables once all 8 characters are entered — tap it.
  6. On success you see a confirmation overlay and are taken into the project.

The screen also has a footer link if you prefer to continue on the web platform.

Invite code errors

  • Invalid or expired code: The code does not match or has expired. Ask your admin for a new invite.
  • Already a member: You are already part of that project. Switch to it from the project picker instead.
  • Wrong email: The invite was issued for a different email address. Sign in with the correct account or ask your admin to resend.
  • Too many attempts: Wait a while before trying again.
  • Archived project: The project is not accepting new members. Contact your admin.

The project picker — switch or join from the drawer or the chat header

The project picker opens from two places:

  • The project card at the top of the drawer, on any main screen. It shows your active project's name and code.
  • The project chip in the centre of the Chat screen header.

The picker is a sheet titled Select project. It shows:

  • My Workspace — your personal workspace, with the hint "Your personal files".
  • A scrollable list of your projects — each with its name and code, and a check mark on the active one. Tap a project to switch to it.
  • A Join project row ("Use an invite code") that opens the invite-code screen, where you enter an 8-character code to join another project.

There is no create-project option on mobile — projects are created on the web app.

What happens when you switch projects

When you switch to a different project, the app clears its cached data and re-fetches your permissions for the newly selected project. All screens — Home, Issues, RFIs, Planner, Scripts, Assets, Map, Layouts, Documents, and Chat — then show that project's data. The Map and Layouts rows in the drawer come and go with the project, because each project turns those modules on or off.

Because permissions are per project, what you can see and do may change after switching: your role in one project may allow actions that your role in another does not.

What you can do with projects on mobile

On the mobile app you can:

  • Join projects with an invite code and switch between your projects.
  • Use the AI chat assistant on your project data.
  • View project insights on the Home screen.
  • Browse and manage issues, RFIs, assets, and documents, and create issues and assets.
  • Work with the planner calendar and execute scripts.
  • See your sites, buildings and assets on the Map, when the Map module is on for the project.
  • Open the project's 3D Layouts and pin issues on them, when the Layouts module is on for the project.
  • Receive and read notifications.
  • Keep personal files and chat with the assistant in My Workspace, outside any project.

Project creation, project settings, member management, configuration, and billing are only available on the web app.

Personal workspace on mobile (My Workspace)

My Workspace is your own space outside any project. You can chat with the assistant there and keep personal files. It is where you start before you join your first project.

How to switch to it:

  1. Open the drawer and tap the project card at the top (or tap the project chip in the Chat header).
  2. In the Select project sheet, tap My Workspace ("Your personal files").

What changes while you are in My Workspace:

  • The project card and the Chat header chip read My Workspace.
  • The drawer shrinks to Chat and Documents. Home, Issues, RFIs, Planner, Scripts, Assets, Map and Layouts belong to a project, so their rows are hidden.
  • Documents opens your personal files — the same files you see under My Files on the web app — instead of a project's document tree.
  • If a project-only screen is still open, it shows "You're in My Workspace — This section lives inside a project. Switch to a project from the menu to see it." with a Select project button that opens the drawer.

To go back, open the project picker again and tap one of your projects. The full drawer returns.

No project yet — empty states

Until you join your first project you are in My Workspace. The drawer shows only Chat and Documents, plus a Join project row, and the Chat screen shows an onboarding banner. Project screens such as Issues or Assets show a "No project joined yet" state with a "Join with invite code" button.

Tap Join project (or "Join with invite code") to open the invite-code screen and enter the 8-character code from your project admin. If you are waiting to be added, ask an admin of the project to send you an invite code.
