The search bar — search the whole app from any page

The search bar sits in the middle of the header on every page. It reads "Search issues, assets, files, help…".

  1. Click the bar, or press Ctrl+K (⌘K on a Mac) from anywhere in the app.
  2. Type at least 2 characters, or an ID such as #42.
  3. Results appear in a panel under the bar, grouped under headings.
  4. Click a result to open it.

The search covers Issues, Assets, RFIs, Planner, Documentation, Trackers, Reviews and Help. At the bottom it also offers Pages you can jump to.

A group with many matches shows "more matches — keep typing to narrow down". If nothing matches you see "No results. Try a different term, or an ID like #42."

You only see the groups you are allowed to read. A group you have no permission for is simply not there.

On a narrow screen the bar is replaced by a Search button in the top bar. It opens the same search in a dialog.

How to narrow a search with the chips

A row of chips is always visible at the top of the search panel: All, then one chip per group you can search (Issues, Assets, RFIs, Planner, Documentation, Trackers, Reviews, Help), then Pages.

  1. Open the search bar.
  2. Click one or more chips — for example Issues and RFIs. You can pick several at once.
  3. Type your search. Only the groups you picked are searched.
  4. Click All to go back to searching everything.

If you pick only Pages, the search shows page shortcuts and nothing else.

What the search covers in My Workspace

In My Workspace there is no project, so the search is smaller. It searches Documentation (your personal files) and Help only, and the chips show just those two plus Pages.

Pages still works there. You can jump to Home, My Workspace, Projects, Project drafts, AI Assistant, Settings and its tabs, Help, Get the apps and Support.

To search issues, assets or RFIs, switch to a project first with the project picker at the top of the sidebar.

Pages results — jump to any page by name

The Pages group in the search bar takes you straight to a page. It matches as you type, by the page name or by another word people use for it.

  1. Open the search bar (Ctrl+K or ⌘K).
  2. Type the page name or a related word. For example "punch list" finds Issues, "gantt" finds Planner, and "bin" finds Trash.
  3. Click the page under Pages, at the bottom of the results.

The Settings tabs are there too. Typing "connectors" offers "Settings › Connections". "security", "notifications" and "memories" work the same way and open that tab directly.

The pages of the project you are in are there as well: Project settings, Members, Invites, Groups, Workflows and Configuration. Each configuration list has its own entry, so typing "issue statuses" or "asset types" opens that list directly.

You can also start something new from here. "New Issue", "New Asset" and "New RFI" open the create form straight away, if your role may create them.

Some pages have no entry in the sidebar, and the search bar is the way to reach them:

  • Custom fields — the extra fields your project adds to assets.
  • Trash — deleted files.
  • Locations — the location tree used by assets.

You are only offered pages you are allowed to open, so a teammate with a different role may see a different list.

The Help page — browse and search the guides

Help holds the guides for every part of the app. Open it from Help at the bottom of the sidebar.

  1. Pick a module from the Contents list on the left. Its topics open on the right.
  2. Or type at least 2 characters in the "Search the help…" box. Each result shows the topic, the module it belongs to and a short extract.
  3. Click a result to jump to that topic.

When you open a topic from a search, the page address points at that exact topic. Copy the address from your browser to share it with a teammate — it opens Help at the same place.

The "Watch the intro tour" button at the top of the Help page replays the welcome tour. The same tour is under Welcome tour in the account menu.

Help topics also show up in the search bar in the header, under the Help group.

The sidebar — main pages, Help and Feedback

The sidebar on the left is the main menu. From top to bottom:

  • The project picker.
  • The project pages: Home, Assets, Issues, RFIs, Documentation, Planner, Map, Layouts, Trackers, Dashboards and Reviews.
  • Help and Feedback at the bottom.
  • Your avatar, name and email, which open the account menu.

You only see the pages your role can open. Map and Layouts also appear only when the project uses them. A green Beta chip marks pages that are still evolving: Map, Layouts, Trackers and Dashboards.

Reviews shows a number on its icon when items are waiting for your decision.

Use the small arrow tab on the right edge of the sidebar to collapse it to icons, or expand it again. Hover an icon to see its name. Your choice is remembered in this browser.

In My Workspace the sidebar is shorter: Home, My Workspace, Projects, Project drafts and AI Assistant.

The account menu — settings, apps, support and sign out

Your avatar is at the bottom of the sidebar, next to your name and email. Click it to open the account menu:

  • Account, Notifications, Security, Activity and Privacy & Legal — each opens that tab of Settings.
  • Get the apps — download links for the mobile apps and install guides for the Word and Excel add-ins.
  • Welcome tour — replays the short intro tour.
  • Support — contact the support team.
  • About — what Cx Assistant is.
  • Sign out.

Settings has two more tabs, Memories and Connections. Open any Settings tab from the menu and then pick them, or type "memories" or "connectors" in the search bar.

How to switch project with the project picker

The project picker is at the top of the sidebar. It shows the project you are in.

  1. Click the picker.
  2. Click a project in the list to switch to it. Each project shows its code and city.

The picker also has these entries:

  • Edit this project — opens the settings of the current project. Only shown if you own or manage it.
  • My Workspace — your personal files, outside any project.
  • All projects — view and manage every project you belong to.
  • Project drafts — project setups you started and have not finished.
  • Create project — start a new project.
  • Join project — use an invite code.

Hover a project in the list to see two small icons: a pencil for Project settings (if you own or manage that project) and Leave project. Leaving asks you to confirm, because you lose access to the project and its data unless you are invited again.

The header — search, processing, notifications, theme and Ask

The header runs along the top of every page. From left to right:

  • The breadcrumb, which shows where you are.
  • The search bar.
  • Processing documents — a small ring with a number. It only appears while uploaded documents are being prepared for search and the assistant, or when some have failed. Click it to see progress, retry failed documents, or use "Open documents page". When nothing is processing it disappears.
  • Notifications — the bell. Inside it you can Mark all as read, and the gear opens Notification settings.
  • The theme button — choose System, Light or Dark.
  • Ask Cx Assistant — the round button at the far right. It opens the assistant in a panel beside the page you are on. It hides while the panel is open, and on the full AI Assistant page.

Page info tips — the (i) icon beside a page title

Many pages have a small (i) icon right after the page title. Hover it and it says "What is this?".

  1. Click the (i) icon.
  2. A card opens with a plain-words explanation of what the page is for.
  3. Most cards also give a "For example" box and an "Also known as" list with the other names people use on site.
  4. Click anywhere outside the card to close it.

You will find it on Assets, Issues, RFIs, Planner, Map, Layouts, Trackers, Dashboards, Reviews, Locations and Custom fields, among others. It is a quick way to learn what a page does without leaving it.
