One question, one official answer.
An RFI is a formal question that needs an official answer: a clarification about a drawing, a specification or a site condition. Unlike a comment thread, an RFI tracks who must answer and by when, and ends with one designated official response.

What you can do
Raise the question with its context
Give the RFI a title phrased as the question, describe what you looked at and what decision depends on the answer, set a priority and a type, and attach drawings, photos or existing project documents.
Assign who answers, and by when
Assign the RFI to a person or a group and set the date the answer is needed by. When the date passes and the RFI is still open, the list shows an Overdue chip next to it.
Watchers follow the question
Add teammates as watchers so the people affected by the answer follow the question and its outcome without being the ones who answer.
Comments, then the official response
The discussion runs in comments: clarifying questions, partial answers, back and forth. When a comment is the definitive answer, it is promoted to the official response and shown in its own card. It can be cleared again if it was promoted by mistake.
Linked assets and a status flow
Connect the RFI to the equipment it concerns, and move it through the status flow your project defines until it reaches a closing status.
Export the RFI log to Excel
Set the filters and sorting, then export the table. One row per RFI with id, title, priority, assignee, type, status, due date, creator and description; all matching RFIs are included, up to 5,000 rows.
How a team uses it
- 1
An engineer raises the RFI, phrased as the question, with the drawing or the photo attached.
- 2
The lead assigns it to the person or group who must answer and sets the date the response is needed by.
- 3
Stakeholders are added as watchers and the discussion runs in comments.
- 4
A project admin or member promotes the definitive comment to the official response.
- 5
The RFI is moved to a closing status, and the RFI log exports to Excel for the client.
In more detail
Who can set the official response
Promoting a comment to the official response, or clearing it, needs its own permission, held by project admins and members by default. Unlike editing, there is no shortcut for the creator or the assignee.
Filters you can share
Filter the list by id, title, priority, assignee, status and more. The filters live in the page address, so a copied link opens exactly the same list for a teammate.
On the phone
Search by title, description or number, filter by status, priority, type, assignee or creator, sort by response needed soonest first, and open an RFI to set the date, add a photo or comment.
Overdue until closed
An RFI counts as overdue until it reaches a closing status. Setting the official response alone does not close it.

Questions
An issue is a problem or task to resolve. An RFI is a question that needs one authoritative answer: it carries a response-needed-by date, watchers, and an official response promoted from the discussion.
Anyone with a built-in role can comment. Promoting a comment to the official response, or clearing it, needs the respond permission, held by project admins and members by default; the creator and the assignee have no shortcut here.
Yes. Export the filtered table to Excel. The file is saved to the project's documents, or privately for you with the Only visible to me switch.
